After they establish they become rather drought tolerant if forced to be. At the expense though of quality fruit.
Ripe fruit truly tastes like french vanilla custard,including the texture of custard. At their peak you dont "cut" the flesh,you scoop the flesh with a spoon! very sweet. When chilled-it's ambrosia. Few seeds to deal with.
Suebelle is considered a dwarf Sapote,so makes a great city yard tree. It also has the outstanding trait of bearing over a very long season. Almost year around. So,you never have too much to eat at one time or have to deal with rotten fallen fruit.
The only pests are aphids and scale-usually in California accompanied by Argentine ants..get rid of the ants and the aphid/scale population stays small.
Ranks with Avocado and Citrus as most usefull subtropical fruit trees.
