Having already cultivated a substantial collection of red Dahlias(lifted and stored each winter here in zone 6), I would not have purchased another red one had I known. Just now, visiting the Verwer website where this Dahlia was developed as part of a series, I noticed their description says the petals are red and the center yellow which is an accurate statement. Had I seen this prior to ordering Happy Single Flame from the American supplier, I would not have chosen it. On the plus side, the foliage is dramatically dark and very eye catching. The number of branches, number of buds and flowers and overall vigor of these tubers is very good. My neutral rating relates to my expectations not being met compared to what the description stated at the time of purchase. Someone who wants a red Dahlia would probably be very pleased with this variety.
