Aquilegia, European Columbine, European Crowsfoot, Granny's Bonnets 'Winky Purple and White'

I bought this plant several years back, planted it in part shade in Zone 5b and it did not come back after 1 or 2 years. I was disappoint...Read Moreed and and thought that was it for this cultivar. I think they do not like too much shade and rich soil moisture in winter and need a really sharp drainage by the way. Now I have a self-seeded one that looks like winky purple and it likes it in one of the hottest parts of my garden where a lot of plants died out, it had just a rosette of leaves last year and this year it is blooming and very nicely!!! Now I really like it and hope it will make more babies:)

I grow mine in full sun and medium clay soil without any difficulty and it likes it just fine. My columbine doesn't self seed until seed...Read Mores have been thoroughly buried.
