"Leaf-blades oblong-elliptic, to 20x4 cm, more or less entire, stalk obscur...Read Moree, bright green"; "stout stem bears 1-3 whorls of dark red to purple (rarely orange) flowers on erect stalks to 4 cm. The flower with strongly reflexed lobes is about 15 mm in diameter and annulate; corolla-lobes narrowly oblong, rounded"; distribution is "mountains of north-central China; Chihli, Shensi, Shansi; rather dry alpine meadows and shady rocks in fir forests at about 2500m".
Primula maximowiczii has a wonderful color but it was not allways easy for me to grow it in my rockgarden.
