The cliffs literally front the ocean, so this plant gets a lot of ocean spray, especially in the winter. I dug it out of the crevices and planted it in my rock garden about 5-6 years ago(on the same island but much further from the beach). The plant finally made it's first showing this summer - 2008. I had given up on it, but I guess it hadn't given up.
