According to Dr. Tom Croat of the Missouri Botanical Garden, P. maximum is frequently found growing in the old leaf bases on exceptionally large palms known as Scheelea. The blades can range from 109 to 165cm (3.6 to 5.4 feet) in length. This palm tends to grow in drier regions which will give a clue how the Philodendron prefers to be grown. Don't overwater this Philodendron.
