It prefers to bloom when daytime highs are below 90 degrees. I live in New Orleans so that means it blooms best in the spring and fall. If we get a bad enough freeze it will die on top but has always returned from the roots quickly enough to bloom again the next spring. I have grown other hibiscus but this one is my all-time favorite.
