I sometimes see these vines growing in wild areas, usually without apparent flowers.

When it starts growing, it is very aggressive and can climb anything. Blooms appear mid August until Freeze. It will be covered with Gulf Fratilitally butterflies and caterpillars until frost.
I pull it down and cut it back to about 18" at first frost

The vine actually grew up from a crack where the driveway met the house. I guess it was protected there and kept warm. We lived there for ten years and it faithfully bloomed each year. One year it actually grew right into the house, where a house addition met the structure. After we moved to a new house, we were sad to see that the new homeowners had removed the vine.
