Most sources rate its hardiness as zone 8A/B or 9A but i believe it could tolerate lower temperatures around 10 F and maybe to 5 F. Going to grow this one and trial it.
Plant delights have specimens that survived 0 F without damage. Going to trial this one myself.
This is a wonderful, underused Agave in my experience and observations. I grew it from a small plant to a full grown specimen in my Dalla...Read Mores, Texas garden and it held up extremely well to both the heat of the summer and the unpredictable winter weather, doing fine in single digits, in the snow, ice, etc. This plant does not look much like the photos shared on this page, however. It is a diminutive, slender agave. Short, with narrow blue leaves and maroon terminal spines. It offsets well, and pups can be pulled easily. It is not obnoxious like some other species, but I think looks best as a solitary specimen.
I'm growing now in my San Diego garden from a pup I brought with me when I moved from Texas.
