The thieves also made off with a fuschia, and a "Peace" rose. I don't think they were ever caught by the cops despite my report. I learned that sometimes, fancy plants like this one aren't the best choice for one's suburban front yard. :(
This stunningly attractive plant grew great for me in coastal CA, Zone 11.
I planted it as a bulb in Feb. in sandy soil (90% sand 10% compost). I put 3 Tbsp bonemeal in the planting hole. I mulched it with 2" of bark mulch and watered with a drip hose system. It bloomed in early June. The second day it flowered it vanished while I was out on an errand. So if you plant this one, do be sure it is in a place that thieves cannot get to easily.
Normally Callas prefer PH 6.0 to 6.5, but 6.8 seemed OK for this one too.
