We live in central Iowa on a farm and have some long winters and some short summers but we have had lots of rain so the plants are blooming great this year.

They discovered that Rudolf Boysen had abandoned his growing experiments and sold his farm. Knott headed out to Boysen's old farm, where he found several frail vines surviving in a field. The vines were transplanted to Knott's farm where he nurtured them back to fruit-bearing health.
Walter Knott began selling the berries at his farm stand in 1935 and soon noticed that people kept returning to buy the large sweet berries. When asked what they were called, Knott named them, "Boysenberries".
Mrs. Knott began making preserves which made Knott's Berry Farm in California world famous.
