This is a pioneer tree, fast grower and estimated lifetime is a mere 10 to 15 years. As with all thorn trees be sure to prune carefully because of the thorns. Branches tend to grow downward or hang as tree gets bigger. I usually just cut these off, mimicking nature where antilope usualy does the pruning. In the wild they grow either far apart or very near to eachother, so if you want to plant them for shade plant a couple a few feet apart. Be careful when tree starts leaking sap - this could indicate a worm atacking the core of the tree.
