In other areas where there is no boerhavia, and the bindweed has been pulled or poisoned, bindweed continues to reemerge. Only in areas where there is also boehavia does bindweed seem to be almost gone.
We have the Red Spiderling growing naturally in our backyard and it makes a wonderful ground cover. At first we believed it was a weed ...Read Moreand attempted to get rid of it, but it just came back with more vigor, but as it spread and blocked out the puncture vines (tribulus) we decided to just let it go and are glad we did.
We cut it back each fall and by mid May it has spread about two feet in all directions. By the end of summer it takes up a full corner of the yard (between 5 and 7 feet in each direction). It produces small, almost inconspicuous purplish flowers and the leaves make a great camouflage for pots in our container garden.
It tolerates being walked on by our dogs and doesn't take much watering, in fact we don't really seem to have to do anything with it for it to flourish. I would recommend this plant to anyone who has the space and need for a hardy ground cover.

the little seeds are like beggar lice but round and stick to the dog's hair and anything else that it latches on to.
