They must be well contained as they will try and spread underground. They like water, good soil, sun, need fertilizer once a year, around the time of spring blossom set. At this time you can prune the canes that bore fruit the previous year to the ground, and prune a selection of other canes to about 3 feet high, thinning to about a cane every foot, and cutting side branches back to 1 foot.
