I found this tuber to be rather early, compared to other fingerlings. A gardener from Finland sent me this note: Aukko is Aukusti Piekko...Read More, a fisherman and farmer from Kalajoki. At his time he brought odd almond shaped seed potatoes from northern Sweden and potatoes grown from these are still called as Piekon Muikku at Central Osthrobothnia. Elsewhere these are known as Lapin Puikula.
