I met this plant during a visit to the University of California-Davis arboretum, where it is located in plantings along Putah Creek right behind the arboretum headquarters on campus.
This arboretum has extensive collections, and many members of the conifer families are represented. I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Davis or passing through the area.
