Japanese Plum Yew, Harrington Plum Yew, Cow-Tail Pine 'Prostrata'

The first winter after planting, deer ate half of the plants down to the ground. Today (early summer), I noticed most of the new growth has just been eaten off several of the previously untouched plants. The deer ignored the hosta growing right next to it. I don't have a major deer problem. I rarely see them, but they do nibble some things. I'm in northeastern Rhode Island, living adjacent to hundreds of acres of woods, which is where the deer tend to stay.

A needled evergreen that resembles yew, but is much more heat tolerant, and will grow in the southeastern US where yew won't.

They do overgrow the measly 4' I allotted them, so I have to trim them back, but it's easy. When the new growth is on, it's a beautiful light green that looks great with yellow hostas like August Moon. Found them to be 100% deer resistant.
