Positive - I am a novice gardener in the SF Bay Area, though I watched my father grow crops commercially and in his home garden. One day ...Read MoreMy mother asked me to grow her some tomatoes. I went to the hardware store and bought four "Julia Child" variety plants and started my garden in clay soil. I had never heard of this variety until purchase. My only mistake was that I planted them too close together. I would advise distancing them by 36" at the least. My plants grew large and strong. I watered them only weekly. I had to buy metal stakes to support the cages as they could not bear the weight. Nevertheless, my crop was good and tasty. I would not hesitate to grow Julia Child tomatoes again. Use largest cages you can find. Support them well. Don't overwater. Mom is happy!

I put some in DH's lunch to go w/his turkey sandwich. I'll see what he thinks about it.
