Foliage reminds me of clam shells bunched together. Does shed or lose some foliage in late summer to fall. Requires a little shaking or hand plucking to look its best (only takes a few minutes for a tree this size, though.) Overall great plant that's underused in landscapes.
Also, If you like this one, check out the 'fernspray' varieties of cypress (golden or green colors avail.) as interesting and less manicured looking hedge-type plant or as a color/texture contrast in small groupings. Both of these varieties make great additions to Asian-style gardens.

Ealry spring pruned with hand shares and then fertilized with one application of Maricle-Grow liquid fertilizer and mulched. Looks like it bounced back very well!
