Next year I am thinking of planting them at the borders of my garden to possibly attract the ants there (instead of elsewhere) and to attract beneficial wasps.
Oh and they taste good. I pick them young and saute them.

They are quite skinny. What is really fun is that when you cook them, they turn a very deep purple. Other colored snap beans I've grown always turn the boring green color when cooked.
These are ornamental in the garden with the deep red color of the strands. They grow 2-3 on a stem from a big white colored flower. The flower is about an inch long and kind of flat but opens briefly into the regular legume flower form with a very pale blue color o the inside. Very easy to grow. I got my seeds from gourmetseed.com
They seem to attract ants like crazy, especially at the juncture of stem and bean. I had an ant bite me while picking them so now I tap the bean to shake the ants off before picking.
