A.(to the point where I thought it may not survive) when he was chasing a squirrel! I had to cut all the foliage back, lost 2 scapes completely, & left 1 straggler in hopes of getting to see at least 1 bloom this season. Well, the squirrel got away & was doing fine and, apparently, so is my plant!!! My first bloom was perfect! Beautiful and saturated deep red color, and large, too! I'm very impressed with the resilience of this plant that took transplanting very well, along with a dog attack!
Can't speak of long term performance, yet, but will edit my review if there's any major changes. I expect it to do very well, considering what I've seen so far. A+++++

It blooms late, for a long time. After 9 or 10 years I have several huge clumps. I think it looks prettiest in a bit of shade as it tends to fade in the full sun.
