Cuttings and plants take well using rooting hormone (for cuttings) and sphagnum moss. Don't skimp on quality here, there is a lot of variety. I choose high quality bright yellow or white orchid sphagnum moss and test the ph after soaking overnight.
Do not waterlog, instead water through the plant an extra 25 to 50% to wash out any mineral buildup, and allow plant to drain thoroughly. Afterwards plant can be set in a shallow dish or saucer with water in the bottom.
Lowland variety hybrid is a cross between nepenthes spathulata and nepenthes veitchii, typically with great hybrid vigor. Cooler nights are not necessary for these two species and do not require more than 60% humidity. Older nepenthes seem to take drier air without dropping pitchers or refusing to pitcher at all, but young plants seem to need, or like, more moisture.
This hybrid is well suited for open topped terrariums when young as long as proper drainage is available. A bed of sphagnum moss with your pots nestled about halfway down is convenient to clean, and keep fresh, while providing all the necessary moisture and aeration.
Live sphagnum moss is an excellent topper for both the potted plants and the bed of sphagnum, as it will inhibit bacterial growth, provide an excellent appearance, and assist in proper moisture levels. You may find it at your local greenhouse, but it also ships quite well and is available online.
As plants mature, they may be transferred to hanging pots and kept indoors in a sunny area. Leaves will "tan" or become reddish in the sun, but if they begin to brown, the plant may be receiving too much light an should have a veil or cheesecloth placed in the direct light path.
I prefer to buy plants bare root and larger than 3-4" leaves to avoid receiving a waterlogged rootless nepenthes in peat, but even plants in these conditions seem to bounce back when the rooting medium is replaced and they receive a proper environment and care. Bare root nepenthes are delicate and should be planted immediately. Nepenthes roots are dark brown to black, break easily, and are fairly insubstantial. Fluff and untangle the root mass and pack wetted sphagnum aroud each larger root mass and place in a pot. At this time the roots shoud fill only 1/4 to 1/3 of the total pot interior.
You cannot go wrong with this hybrid, I will upload a picture of a few of mine at a later date, and invite any questions you might have about this and other Nepenthes.
