giving this plant a neutral for the time being since i just got it and don't have much info on it. it comes from the mountains of mexico ...Read Moreand altho i put it under tropical/tender perennial catagory it has survived winters in north carolina according to the supplier (with mulching). i don't think it is evergreen, but i also don't know if it completely dies down or just loses leaves. will have to wait and see. the foliage is fuzzy green and the new leaves have a little purple/burgundy bib which is really unusual. the flowers are said to be large. will update this post when i know more.
changed to a positive! i love this plant. i have it in full afternoon sun and water twice a week. it hasn't stopped blooming. i expected it to die down over the winter, but it didn't. a great addition for someone looking for the unusual.
Just purchased at Plant Delights. Love it so far but we'll see if it over winters.
