It's extreme thorniness is problematic in garden setting where it's long willowy branches can
reach out and grab skin or clothing. Removing the recurved prickles can result in torn skin or
clothing. It's flowering though almost makes up for those faults if one takes care to see that it's
seeds never leave the garden. Can be grown as a freestanding shrub or vine.
