Daylily 'Gilded Scarlet'

I have had this daylily three years as of now, so far the one and only bloom this year and same thing the other years, one flower on one ...Read Morestem. I am in a warm zone so I usually expect better results than listed unless the daylily came out of Florida. It also does not have that rich red color like the photo in AHS, etc.

And as far as the fifty to seventy buds? Forget it! Five to seven would be accurate, on a pathetic little scape no more than fourteen inches high. I know that bud count drops as you move farther north but a ninety percent drop is unacceptable. My results with this plant were so bad that I suspected I had the wrong cultivar until I mentioned it to a well known hybridizer of iris and daylilies from Missouri and he also had nothing good to say about it. I had high hopes for Gilded Scarlet but next year, it's going in the compost bin.
