I suppose the sighting of this bird in Iowa seems odd, but it was seen early September 2012 at the Jester Park portion of the Saylorville Lake in Central Iowa. It is believed one of the hurricanes of that season pushed this sub-adult bird our way. It stayed four days, maybe recovering from the storm. ?? We were blessed see it the last day. If I remember, this was the second Iowa report for this species.

Maybe this bird shouldn't necessarily be listed here, but my reasoning is the fact any bird can potentially be seen nearly any place. Keep your eyes open and expect the unusual.

These awesome birds can regularly bee seen feeding in front of the lighthouse in Port Bolivar, Texas. They were a common occurrence there. The photo I have enclosed is from a zoo in Texas that houses native wild life. Sorry I do not have a photo from the lighthouse.

Well the site is not taking my image, will try later.
