I love to see these birds in the neighboring cattle fields. Sometimes there seem to be hundreds of them, and the cows do not seem bothered in the least at having to share space. Many times they land on our property, where there are no cows but their graceful ways are always welcome.

I see these birds in a marshy area close to Vancouver Lake. Can't recall if there are cattle there to kick up insects for them, though.
