I’ve personally observed these species of ducks, Northern Pintails on Tolo Lake, situated on the Camas Praire in Grangeville, Idaho back in the mid 1990’s. And observed their head color to be a matching gray with their bodies. Winter months. 15-20 in a flock. And during my observations in a two week period these ducks were not at the lake everyday, but when they were a spectacular site. At first, I thought they were seagulls because of the matching gray and then realized they were Pintails!
