These nest from the mid-Atlantic into the Northeast of the US. They migrate through Northeast Florida from Late September to the the first half of October. They are a big fan of the berries my firebushes (Hamelia patens) produce but mostly they hunt for insects in mature oak trees. They are showy warblers that flare their tails a lot making them easy to identify. The females are duller (grayish brown instead of black and dull yellow instead of orange) but as pretty in my opinion, just less brightly so.

This is a cute little bird that I wish would visit more often. I had the female for a couple of days and boy did she flit around the pond. I never saw her drink; I think she was going after bugs.
