General informational note...we started seeing tons of gray caterpillars on my driveway and sidewalk in late August and had no idea what these worms were capable of.....within a week, my front and back lawns of common bermuda were totally brown....my husband saw that the caterpillars were all on the tips of each blade of grass ...he got the lawnmower out and chopped them all to bits....what they were doing was eating each blade of grass down to the base of each runner and left our yard brown and devastated. We have planted annual Rye grass to provide some carpet during the winter so we don't have mud in the house all winter brought in by our dog. FYI..... if you see these, spray with liquid sevin immediately!!! More than one application may be necessary...
