The bug is a sap sucker.
If approached too closely it can fire an irritant spray about 2 feet (600mm) and reputably is capable of aiming for the eyes.
Extremely difficult to kill. Usual organics failed to affect it over three attempts. Finally succeeded with soap and water heavily laced with pyrethrum. Two lots of spray.
Surprisingly although a pest of citrus it did not touch an orange within a metre or lemons and mandarins within 50 metres.
