A spider fairly widespread in southern and central europe.
I found this spider in my garden where it had spun its web amongst the plants. The female sat in the centre of the web and was busy wrapping a prey item in silk when I came across her. A movement to one side of the web led me to take a closer look and there was the comparatively tiny male, awaiting an opportunity. He behaved in a very nervous fashion, attempting to make himself invisible.
