This is native to Europe but was introduced to The USA.
It is included in the Family Meconematidae in Europe but in the USA Meconematidae is treated as a subfamily of Tettigoniidae.
A 'good bug', the larvae are laid under the bark of decidous trees, mainly Oak. They will consume many aphids and other bad bugs.
