I Like Black Field Crickets. They Sound Cheerful and are Supposed to be Good Luck.

I just moved to a new place and am getting the yard landscaped. The Black-Field Crickets are in the ground here everywhere. I mean thousands. They jump away when I till the ground and I am absolutely disgusted. Almost afraid to open the front door, I ordered a pest company. Now they get killed, when they come close to the house.
Although I only moved 20 miles from my old place, I've never seen any there and am wondering, what is it, that attracts them here so much?
I would do anything to get rid of these ugly bugs, they don't make my yard work very enjoyable.

Can someone please tell me how to get rid of them without harming our neighbors dogs or the squirrels...What can I do to keep them out of my house.. they get under the funiture and appliances and keep us up at night.....We Rent so I am limited to what I can use and do... Any Info and Input would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Pamela_joy
