I have never seen this type of beetle in my home town until now. They are invading my house! What would attract these insects to the inside? They are very hard to kill and when approched, they are fast and can fly. They leave a remarkable foul odour as a natural defense mechanism. I really don't need them in my bed. I thought they were a type of cocroach. Will I need to get an exterminator to get rid of these pests? I don't know how they are getting in the house?

I have a specimen of this beetle, located in Zephyrhills, Florida. What is the general region of this beetle? I work at a middle school and someone found it in a bathroom and my principal gave it to me, being a science teacher. I was trying
to identify it and finally saw this picture. The name of beetle being the Red Carrion, does this mean it feeds off of dead organisms?
