With all the variations in the marking and the color of this skipper, I found that I had more trouble with ID's than on any other. It is one of the most visually present butterflies in my garden over a long season. It is constantly swarming in the mating mode. Hard not to like this precocious little butterfly.

Competes with the Fiery Skipper as the most common in Arkansas. Also loves yards and gardens. http://www.hr-rna.com/RNA/Bfly pages/Sachem page.htm
