The adults fly from April through Sept and resemble the more common Silver Spotted Skipper. The Hoary Edge is a bit smaller and the silver spot on it's hind wing is larger and more diffused. The silver spot extends all the way to the edge of the hind wing instead of a centrally located patch.
Larvae feed on Tickseed and members of the Fabaceae family. Adults feed on nectar.
