Found throughout southern Canada and the eastern US, this moth prefers the edges of woodlands.

Host plants are members of the Rosaceae family with Wild Cherry being a preferred food source. Rarely present in enough numbers to produce much damage, they can infest apple orchards and require control.

Adults are present July through Sept in the north and as early as April in the south.
