Just got this from another DGer, it is long but thought you might find it very interesting if you are associated with children of any age......

Trish…thank you for the site, that looks like fun. And a double rainbow, ver, very pretty.

Susan…looks like the girls made them selves at home already.lol
And beautiful picture of your garden!

Tills…..that is definitely a Sunburst! Awesome! Sassy is great!!

Trish….thanks for the story. Who would have thought? They were probably trying to keep colds from spreading, without realizing the danger. You wouldn’t think you could get drunk from licking it off your hand.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Trisha.... great picture of the rainbow! and what a story. who would have thought about that? crazy.

Thanks again for the birthday pic Tilly. It's great!!

Eugene, OR

rc.....we just had a downpour that was too much for the gutters. Lasted about 5 min., now it's stopped.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Yikes! That's not good. I just planted a few plants today, rain that hard will not be good for them. Hopefully it will weaken as it comes this way. Thanks for the warning!
I was thinking that rain tonight would be good for them, but not like that. I guess that I have to be more specific in my requests next time :-p

Eugene, OR

Yes, watch what you wish for, especially on your birthday. LOL

It was enough to quite the frogs for a time, but they're back at it in full force now.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

gotta love those frogs. You always know that when they're quiet, something's going on.

Eugene, OR

Isn't that the truth. It's like somebody threw a switch when they stop. Always figure there must be a critter walking by out there.

Renton, WA

almost spring
loved the sun yesterday,
got mustard, spinach and sorel almost ready to pick,
been grazing on chickweed....
can hardly wait.
Still have last falls carrots-- I share them with slugs.
gonna plant peas on Thurs, Fri -- moon times good.
Saw Mom and she was going thru old garden info and found
an old 1980 moon calendar poster from a young Ed Hume--
same words and things to do like his little book--
have a good day all

Wonderful story to wake up to DIO! Now.... what on earth are you doing up at this time of the day?

Renton, WA

G'morning redchic,
I usually get up early and try to get a few things done,
til I got here.
just cleaned and refill the hummers feeders and got some
flowes to replant.
This place does take up time.
Rainy mild- birds out early too--- nice to see daylight creeping in.

Good morning all! Speaking of daylight creeping in Daylight Savings Time starts SAT NIGHT!!!!! WOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!! I don't mind the dark mornings, but I love the long daylight hrs in the evening!

Boo on DST. I wish they would just stop it.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

I'm a morning person. I like light in the morning. DST during the summer is fine.....but I hate this new early March business. Just when we're finally starting to get light at a reasonable hour in the morning! Phooey!!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

haha..... I'm with Susan, Hurrayyy!!!! I look forward to DST from the very day that it switches back in the fall. I love to have the light to do stuff in the yard after work. I'm never motivated enough to utilize the extra light in the morning before work.

So true DIO, but this is a great place to have take up your time. And I usually learn something.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Is this the true DST??? I have a smart set alarm clock, and it aways goes off the week before. Are great Gov. changed the real time 2 years ago. Did they fix it????

Eugene, OR

Still too cold in the morning to do anything, so I like the extra light in the evening too. Now if I could just figure out how to get DH and mom to eat dinner later.....

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

I agree Sally! although, good luck getting everyone to change dinner times. I don't know about your mom, but maybe your DH could deal with the reasoning of well, "I can't as easily garden after dinner when there's no light can I"? But, I'm guessing that probably won't work for you.

Tilly...What do you mean True DST? You change between standard and DST don't you? I think. Anyhow, they (president, congress, whoever) signed a bill several years back that was to gradually move the start time earlier in the year and the end time later. It's been shifting a little every year for the last 3 or 4 years. All states who observe DST must change as well. This year, from what I understand, is the last year of the shifting and it will remain in this schedule. Sorry if you already knew all that, but I have no idea what you mean by True DST. :-p

Eugene, OR

Not a chance!! And mom goes to bed early.

I really get tired of changing all the clocks, we have way too many. And so does mom. I make up the calendar for our little community here, so before I put it on the calendar, I googled it to be sure I had it right.^_^

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

that's a good way to do it. I would not think of something like that from the community aspect. Good to know before hand. I always call my sister the night before to remind her. Her DH has no clue about when DST is, she doesn't listen to the news often, so after a couple of years for her being an hour late to teaching her Sunday school class, I started calling her the night before. It works well since I always have to be at work on Sundays, The word is always spread around on Sat. and usually by me since I'm looking forward to it the very day it changes back!!!

Eugene, OR

Changing back is the best part for sure. These people depend on me to have my info correct, so I really try to verify everything. Wouldn't want them to miss a pinochle game. LOL

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Hey, if pinochle is the highlight of your day, then you CAN'T miss it. ^_^

Eugene, OR

I don't do cards, don't have time. But there are 8 scheduled card games every month. Pinochle, Double Pinochle, cribbage, and hand and foot. Plus the potluck, homeowners meetings, clubhouse reservations and can't forget the men's breakfast or ladies luncheon. That's why we need a calendar. LOL

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Of course you don't have time - you're making sure everybody else is okay, in addition to your orchids, aroids, and handwork . . .

Eugene, OR

We all have our priorities. Right! I'd much rather dig in the dirt and knit or tat a gift than sit and play cards. Besides they take it much to seriously. LOL
