Well I don't want to boast or anything but the Chicken Fairy has been privately corresponding with me and it looks like I may have help with the Chicken Police (who deny me any poultry even if they're disguised as chick-a-poos). You know I penned correspondence to the Chicken Fairy as part of my Holiday ritual but WHO KNEW I would get a response. I'm so excited I just had to share. ps in case you think I'm special, the Chicken Fairy says its a no go on the blue-smartied booties that I covet :(

(iv) Animals of the bovine species,
(v) Animals of the avian species including chickens turkeys,
ducks, geese, or pheasants, and
(vi) all other Animals that are kept for agricultural purposes,
but does not include cats, dogs, or other domesticated household
pets;
I am now working on the 'domesticated household pets' loophole. ps note that Santa can't visit here-no reindeer allowed.

nut, I suspect if you're not keeping chickens for agricultural purposes (not selling the eggs or the meat) but as pets, you're safe. The restrictions are for health and safety -- don't want shady people selling unsanitary eggs, etc.
(Shhhh... this is the big secret... it's always better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission... shhhh...)
