Moby...Must be the Flower Child still left in me...pun intended
Summer Lilies
Love those martagons. So graceful and beautiful.
Those are beautiful Maxine!
Thanks mattsmom :-) I love yellow OT's
Neal, great pictures! especially like Cancun and Loreto. I am a yellow-fan when it comes to lilies. You've done great for such a short time at your new place.
Bev, it does smell good - in fact is one of the most strongly-scented lilies I have ever grown. You should be near them when a whole cluster is blooming at once! But then, what OT doesn;t smell good? :-) Yellow "Futura" has an awesome smell too, and I have a couple of them but they're hard to find in the lily market these days.
Love your big ol' noid mess, Moby! :-)
Congrats on your martagons, Maxine. That is a beautiful drift of them. ^_^

Thanks for the confirmation, Steve. I'm sure those are the ones I have in one of my front beds. Matter of fact, they are blooming now and are near where I park the car. The smell is amazing, you are right:-) I've had them for probably 5 years now. They bloom at right about 'nose level', lol!
Still loving all the pics, y'all!
Thanks so much everybody! After such disappointments last year with that devastating April freeze, this year has certainly renewed my lily enthusiasm.
Gotta get more pics tomorrow, some more beauties have been opening today :-) A couple more LA hybrids that are new for me this year made my jaw drop this morning, California, a rich, deep cherry red, and Cavalese, a gorgeous pink blend with some yellow and a touch of orange in the throat- both much prettier than the pictures! A bunch of Centerfold is open today too- very nice!
Tracie, wasn't that you who posted that pic? Hmmm....seems like there was some morning mist in the pic that gave it an ethereal feel, does that ring a bell? Or maybe it was Moby...a group of yellow and cream OTs, and if memory serves me, there was a yellow/red bicolor in the pic as well (looked like Shocking). Moby, do you recall posting a pic like that? It was one of you regulars on the Lily forum I'm pretty sure. I probably dreamed it, LOL.
Moby, those noids are lovely!
Gorgeous martagons Maxine! Is that Backhouse?
Barbara, glad you're enjoying the show! When do lilies start blooming in your zone? I have a friend in Canada that grows Orientals in containers that she overwinters in her garage. Do you grow any that are not winter hardy for you? For that matter, which ones do perform well as perennials for you?
jmorth, love that Starshine! It reminds me of one I got from buggycrazy called Starburst- hmmmm...I wonder where that is (?)...Is Royal Perfume really fragrant? I've read there are some LAs that have inherited some scent from their Easter lily parentage, but have yet to experience it.
jmorth, it does look like my Buggy Crazy 'Starburst'. Very nice blooms there!
Never met a fragrant LA yet. Let me know if you find one.
gemini, magnolia,
Thanks for a rectifying my error, the lily initially labeled as Starshine is indeed Starburst (obtained from Buggy Crazy).
lincolnitess,
This is Tango Orange's second year. It is making a commanding performance. I hope to plant a red tango this fall, the color combination intrigues my aesthetic senses.
I made a drive-by on Royal Perfume but detected no smell emanating therefrom; I'll check some more when the sun isn't at high noon.
I have 5 more lilies beginning to bloom today. I hope to post the visual details tonight.
J
J. your lilies for the season are gorgeous! So is Steve's collection and many who post here. I went out for some mulch today, and head over heels falling for this Oriental lily.
Presenting 'Arabian Red', the blooms are the biggest, deepest red I've seen in Oriental lily. And the fragrant is out of this world! Just 2 blooms and it scented the entire garden.
Kim
Beautiful! Just beautiful! My lilies are just in the beginning stages of blooming. I'll need to get some pictures up eventually... Untill then, I'll be enjoying all of your pictures!! Keep them coming, ok?
Kim-That is one gorgeous lily!
wickerparker...I always love seeing scenes from your home gardens. They are so beautiful and well organized ;). Everything looks as if it belongs there. Those martagons look very happy in there amongst your other greens. Love that shot.
Thank you so much. Having a lot of plants in a small garden is like having a big family in a small house, I guess. You've got to be organized. Having said that, my house is a mess! And I've got a small family.
It really flows nicely.
In the summer it's tough keeping everything in line...or try to anyway...I tend to neglect inside as compared to outside. Summers are so short anyway, aren't they? I try to live in the moment and get my family involved in the outside. The house is always a mess in the summer when I have to choose.
So many delicious lilies in this thread! Yum.
Actually, they probably are delicious - the bulbs, I mean.
Laura, I do so agree with Tracey. Your gardens are just beautiful. They always look so calming and relaxing. I guess that's where that Zen influence from your Garden Boy comes in, eh? :) I want more pictures of your gardens please. :)
Diann
Well, yes, my garden boy is very Zen, it's true. Thank you for your kind words. I love that you so nicely speak of my "gardens", when unfortunately all I've got is one garden, photographed from many angles. Photography is magic, and to prove it, here's what the garden really looks like right now. The garden boy's lawn is trashed, but I've been defending the borders tooth and claw.
sorry, that picture's off topic, but there are lilies in there!
A small home improvement project (!)
LOVE that Landini.
Gambetta is lovely. I love the really big ones. Wish Orientals did better for me. 'Arabian Red' is wonderful.
