Post your early bloomers

Denham Springs, LA(Zone 8b)

Here's my NOID. I can't find my picture to tell me what Iris this is.

Carol

Dutch Gardens helped me name mine. It's Autumn Prince. It's not as dark as their picture, so it fooled me.

weegy, those are beautiful. It must be a joy to be in your yard now? Can you give us a wide shot or the beds?

Marie did they give a reason they won't grow there? I am asking because we don't get heat like you do so they may do well here.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Thanks cactus...It is a joy to be in the iris garden, everyday there's another bloom. I will get a shot of the garden next week. The weather has turned cold and cloudy so it won't make a good picture.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Here's a good picture of my garden taken last week, but there are many more blooms now than just this.

Holy Cow! That looks so cool and organized! Yup--I'm amazed by the concept of ROWS of Iris! LOL

Do your neighbors love the iris field? I would be clinging to the chainlink fence drooling like a kid with no money at the ice cream truck!

Going on my list: Navy Blues, Sunny Shoulders and Wine Time=)

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

No surprisingly, the neighbors don't pay much attention to it. People will drive by and look but for the most part, neighbors don't come around. It's my mom's property and whether or not she gets neighbors coming by when I'm not there, I don't know. She kind of keeps to herself and doesn't really talk to many of her neighbors, except for the ones right next door to the iris garden, now they love the flowers! I live about 20 minutes from her and try to get there as much as possible. It only looks clean and organized because I took this picture the day I had someone weed it for me! You should have seen it before!
I really like the concept of "rows of irises" rather than sporadic planting. I just think it's awesome when almost all of them are blooming but of course I have the room there to do rows, here at my own yard, I have a smaller iris garden, about 70, and it is also in rows and it's a mess, the weeds are really coming in since I watered.

Mine are just starting up--bloom stalks on Juicy Fruit and Peekaboo Zebu. But my SDB's are already going. Here's Welch's Reward:

And this one is a NOID--somehow the cats relieved it of its tag. It's a bitty and quite lovely...anybody recognize it?

I would check out Pink Pele as am attaching a photo of mine.

If you truly want to identify it, buy from grower and plant next to this NOID and see.

Love that Pink Pele. Thanks for that shot weegy. LOL! I was thinking how all those were landscaped, never thought they would be in rows. : )

Here's some LA's for ya'll--peak of season has been interupted by fence replacement this year--but most of the close ups are making the PlantFiles.
Debbie

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Well I guess a pic would be helpful--lol--the 2 x 4's holding up the other fence really make the shot.
=)

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Debbie that is a great shot!!

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks Marie and Weegy--I think the 2 x 4's holding up the back fence really make the shot--lol

I'm just thankful 1/2 of the fence is done--its nice not to have everyone in the neighborhood watching you label LA Iris. Have to do a little "tweeking" to the labels every year as they travel a bit.

Here's a nice pink 'Feliciana Hills' from this morning with a friend.

The dwarf with the four petals is Jewel Baby

Durham, ME(Zone 3a)

I'm waiting for my crocus to bloom. It is late for a huge snowbank is melting over most of my garden. Enough has melted today to see a crocus bud coming along usually they bloom around the end of March. I see my wooden raised beds poking out of the snow now and yesterday they were not. Very late for cleaning up my garden. Usually first iris bloom Blue Doll, MDB blooms May 10th. Do not know what will happen this year.

Going nuts from cabin fever.

South Hamilton, MA

one reticulata "Harmony" was our first iris flower & that is not April Fool. It is the only one in that spot which has stated around, its parteners are gone. didn't order more last yr. because of the drought we will see what this fall will bring.

Marshall, TX

Now Hagar's Helmet is doing its thing...
