Today's Weather in Your Garden - 14

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Very muddy here. We ended up with a bit less than 1 1/2 inches of rain plus the snow melt. I saw a small shrub I planted last fall almost completely above ground! Didn't get a chance to mulch it after planting. Hope it survives. I'll post a pic later.

Boxford, MA(Zone 6a)

Is "Yuck" an accepted meterological term?

BTW, Al, if a realtor were selling your house, it would be a Charming Riverfront Location.

pixie, those are great pics! You brave soul ventured out side, I took mine from the front porch. I drove in it last night, that was enough for me!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice Celeste - love the last one.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I loved the last one best, too. Strange how it can be so beautiful and yet so deadly to so many limbs and trees, not to mention power lines.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

You said it perfectly Pirl! (oooh..another name for those Iri's we were talking about!! Perfect Pirl, Perfectly Pirl??)

Thanks for the compliments, I do feel bad for the trees.
When I was out there shards of spear shaped ice where falling from the wires and tree's so I didn't stay out long to take pictures. I wish I would of captured it but I was too stunned!!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Glad you went back inside Celeste.

Thomaston, CT

Sunny--yipee, 42 & drying up--no lake left in drive--MORE heavy rain coming--had to move the sprouts in cellar--water encroaching! Can see lots of crocus foliage--no crocus blooms, yet!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Upper 40's slight breeze makes it feel colder, but when it's not blowing the sun feels so warm, blue skies hardly any clouds, a
b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l day

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Same here but almost no wind at all.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

32 and mostly cloudy here. Yes - tons of rain coming! I have to get on the roof and clear some leaves.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

That one Anita.

2 here. This month has been cold-nothing above freezing predicted until Tuesday.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Al - while searching for the ever elusive (to me) "eyes" on dahlias I took cuttings of the new green growth on several of them and it appears they're all growing!

North Augusta, ON

We have the same warning in effect as do you South of me, but instead of rain, we're gonna get another 15 inches of snow :((

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

They root pretty easy Pirl. Spring should be a lot easier to find the eyes.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Today started with a moderate frost and sunny skies. The frozen tundra returned. Temp is now soaring to 33 degrees heading into the 40s. Tomorrow 2-4 inches of rain. We have flood warnings. Hope up north you don't get dumped on as much as they are saying. Winter seems to be putting up a fight but soon the climbing sun will bring spring I hope.

Boxford, MA(Zone 6a)

They are forecasting as much as 4" of rain for my area! There is a flood watch in efffect... it starts tonight.
I used the opportunity to spread all the perennial seeds I have left over from winter sowing in the "wild" areas of my property... my hope is that the rain will give them a good opportunity to get a foothold in the soil and enough moisture to get started.

North Augusta, ON

Or wash them away and the house 2 miles downstream will have beautiful gardens this summer...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

44 and starting to rain.
