Seed Swap Plant List

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Second thread from this First Seed Swap thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/784913/#top

FINALLY!!! Here is THE LIST. Hopefully I didn't miss any seed packs. And I do know that there is some mis-spellings of botanical names. There are links for almost ALL of them, so take a gander and then make your WISH LIST and post it here on this new thread! I will do the best I can to fill everyone's picks! (But no guarantee that I can fill ALL of your list!)

I will be packing everyone's envelopes this week! Enjoy planning out your new Spring garden beds by looking at this extensive list! Y'all did a great job sending in the seeds as you can tell! Have fun!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Not a problem Kelly. I just need your wish list within the next 2 days if possible! I want to get them sent out ASAP to everyone!

Georgetown, IN(Zone 6a)

I know I want Daturas, and Salvias, any of them. Ill check it out more later.

Nobody is ever gonna be able to top what you have done here!!!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Kelly - Sorry it took me longer than expected to get the list up. Not to worry. My goal is to send everyone as many of their picks as possible. (This is NOT a first come, first serve contest.) So take your time and then post your Seed Wish List and then let me do some sharing magic! :-)

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

BooHoo, I had to cancel my oink list because my envie and seed packet never arrived to Becky's house. But the upside is I learned exactly how to harvest and store seeds which was worth every penny:))))

Good Luck folks with your seeds. I hope you all can share pics and stories about this great seed swap:)

Lucille

Wow!!! What a list!! You deserve a medal for going through all those seeds. The list is amazing. I went through all the links, which were very helpful, and here is my wish list (I just copied and pasted yours and then edited it, hope that was ok). This past summer was my first getting into butterfly gardening, so I will be happy with anything you send. Thanks again so much for organizing this!

Kim

Edited to say can you tell I am doing absolutely nothing today? Lol....I figure this is probably my only free time to go through all this so that's why I did it now. I tried to make the list easier to read too.

I just copied and pasted the list into Word and printed it out so I can peruse it after dark with a cup of tea.

Good Lord! That is a thorough list! Many thanks for the links, Becky, what an awesome job (because I am one who doesn't know what half of them are)! And many thanks to the participants, too, for such a wide assortment!

Suzy

My gosh, this is entertaining reading everyone's wish lists.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

yeah....and I feel like I should've shortened mine a bit. I just listed the things I was interested in, I do not expect to receive them all. I hope it didn't look that way.

Excellent! Glad to see so many of you already posting your wish list.

I HAVE A HUGE FAVOR TO ASK OF EACH OF YOU ...

I plan to print out each person's WISH LIST post when I start packing the envies with seed packs. I will be looking at each list to find the seeds for each of you. I would like to ask that if you modify your wish list ... please go back to YOUR ORIGINAL POST and edit it. If you post other wishes later on down in this thread, I'll probably miss it. So .... please help me out here ... and do yourself a favor in the process!

Thanks so much! I am just amazed by the variety of seeds and boy! oh boy! are there ever quite a lot of good ones there! Y'all ROCK!!!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Here's a link to the dahlia photo - this is the pod parent, no guarantees this is what your flowers will look like.

They are easy to grow from seed and the perfect butterfly height at 40"

Monarchs liked them seemingly as well as the Zinnias.

Suzy

I can't do anymore editing today as I apparently reached my quota. I will add it tomorrow. :-)

Becky. I'll be more than grateful for any seeds you may send. IMO folks who sent an abundance of pkgs should get their selections filled first. They are more experienced at sowing seeds for Butterflies and their success rate would surely be better than mine. Anyway, if any of these don't have a home, I think I can grow these.

I was bored too today, Kim! LOL

Please check the list one more time and add any other seeds you are interested in. I would appreciate it if everyone would be so kind as to finalize their wish list by Tuesday evening. I am hoping to get a start on packing the envies on Wednesday. Thursday of course is Thanksgiving, so I won't be home to do any work on the seed swap. Friday I will be back at it ... along with some Christmas shopping perhaps. And then I am hoping I can get them all done and mailed out on Saturday. If not ... Monday for sure!

HAHA Suzy oink oink!ROFL

I want your list;))) tripple oink!!!

Lucille

PS. You must really know your plants, unlike me.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Yep, I'm still laughing at Suzy's oink oink! This little piggy went back and added to the list.

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

This little piggy was tempted but used unusual self control. I might not be able to hold out all night though;)))

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Go for it, Lucille, LOL; you may not get'em all but at least Becky has some kind of idea what you like! Plus, you'll hae BF flower seeds next year to pay forward in next year's swap.

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

That does sound like a good plan Cordeledawg, but I have a hard time of it 'cause I like everything!!!!!mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmthinking,thinking....now where is that posyblossom post! Back to the seed list again for the 5th time!!!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Y'all are cracking me up! If you saw all the seeds I have for this swap ... being a "piggy" is not such a bad thing! LOL! I just hope everyone has the space in their gardens for all the plants that are going to grow from these seeds! :-)

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Becky, Is there a second Butterfly Seed Exchange in spring? The reason I ask is because I will have a whole lotta Zinnias seeds in Pinks, Purples and Lavenders. I just couldn't get them cleaned by the time this swap rolled around -- I don't even think they were ripe. These flowers are just so-so on the ZAS (Zinnias Attractiveness Scale) but they were the preferred nectar plants for all the Painted Ladies, Swallowtails, Red Admirals and Monarchs.

I wasn't going to make a piggy of myself until I saw the list. :) If you don't have enough postage from my envie, I will send more $.

Suzy

Georgetown, IN(Zone 6a)

If I had extra postage, Just keep it and use it to cover others

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Suzy - I doubt there will be another seed swap in the Spring. This is probably only once a year in the Fall. Do Zinnia seeds stay viable for a year or so if stored properly? If so, than I would start bagging and tagging them for the next swap in the Fall of 2008. All of us should have plenty of seeds to share with more newbies and others who didn't join this time around.

Thanks for the postage offer everyone. I asked for $4 in postage or cash just to cover a heavy envelope thinking there might be a lot of seeds. I should think that amount will cover it. We'll see. :-)

The seed lists are looking good! Be sure to have them all done by the end of tomorrow (Tuesday)!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Posyblossom - Hmmm .... I thought you were one of the participants ... but ... I don't have you down as one of the original Seed Swap participants.

I see that you are recently new to DG. And I don't mind helping out a new gardener. I DO have some seeds that I received 20+ packs for which is more than there are participants in this swap. ** If it is okay with all of the participants here, I can share some of these seeds with you.** And I don't mind sharing my Morning Glory seed mix with you as well. I sent you a d-mail, Lucille. :-)
