Where did they go?

Tiverton, RI(Zone 6b)

Until two days ago I had hummers visiting my feeder frequently, sometimes several at the same time fighting to get at the feeder. For the last two days I have had not one hummer at my feeder. The nectar is fresh so I don't know why they stopped coming. I don't think there are any other feeders in my area so I am quite perplexed. It's June 21st so it's not because of cold weather. Any clues?

I've read that hummingbirds prefer nectaring flowers over feeders. As those became more prevalent in my garden hummingbirds stopped coming to the feeders so must be something to that. I no longer bother with feeders and have lots of hummers. Another possibility is that they are so territorial that the fighting has made them leave.

I even have a tumbler feeder that hangs from a porch roof. It has the 4 "flower-formed" crimson stations on it in which the birds sit down and drink. It's about three ft from the column retaining up the roof, and six feet from the office window I need to watch from. I used this feeder with top notch success in south Seattle, but right here in the north end the birds come and appearance, however do not relax and feed. I'm the use of precisely the same sugar-water solution I used to apply - do you have any idea what might be wrong? I've wiped clean the feeder and refilled it several instances, in hopes that fresh answer might paintings, but no. Thanks very a lot!
