CANNA ? ( Continued ) # 4

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Hi Red .
Glad to hear your GF are making it .
How many additions did you make to your family ?

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Went home to the beach this weekend-the old man started talking about moving back home.............................sigh

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

If you do , Would you have to start your garden all over again ?
Or do you already have A home there ?
Saw on 20 / 20 about some OLD folk living in Campers
being offered $1.2 Million for their sites.
Sites being like Shoe Boxes .
Fancy owning 1/2 acre near the beach !!!!!

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh, part of the problem is I don't see how we could afford property there-don't get me started. My mom bought her little house for @ 60,000 a few years back-not even on the beach, (our beach is on an island) but it is in town across the bridge. It's prob. worth 200,000 now if not more. Land in North Carolina has gone up almost everywhere, but especially the coast and mountains-I like both, but would prob. prefer mtns.

My parents are there, so that would be nice, but his parents can afford to up and buy property anywhere, and I'm sure t would only be a matter of months before I had outlaws and my own parents up my butt.

Schools aren't great where I'm from either, that would be a problem.

One good thing, it would be much easier growing tropicals there.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Just think , you could then have real Coconut palms like these .

Thumbnail by ginger749
Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

I don't think those will grow there (maybe? I would sure give it a try-lol). Of course I'd try to grow them here, if I could find them.

It's either zone 8a or 8b, which would just open up the availability of tropicals.

Just not sure I want to move back home. BF's best friend just moved back, that's what this is all about. I gotta feeling it'd be nothin but trouble

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

ginger-I now realized how much I did miss ya when you were gone. wifey ok?

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

That`s cool .

My nephew got married on a beach 2 weeks ago .
I was the Photographer . Took some cool Pics .
Even If I have to say it my self .

You can see the Coconuts on tree .

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

I love coconuts-never drank rum out of them, but aspire to one day-lol

This is the sound near where my folks live. Lots of cranes there

Thumbnail by Tropicanna
Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

This is an awful picture, but there is a canna growing at this graveyard near my parent's. I think it's neat

Thumbnail by Tropicanna
Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

This handsome old fart is my dad-lol

Waiting at football practice with my nephew. If you look beyond the fence to the right you can see the sound there also. The town is almost shaed like an island or penninsula. Kinda scary for hurricanes.

He wouldn't be happy if he saw his pic online....lol

That first Pic .is Cool .
I can feel an Oil painting coming on .

Pic 2 they do that a lot here also .
Cannas are easy to grow almost anywhere .

Pic 3 Cool looking Dude .
Looks like one of Peter Fondas Friends .

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Yeah, my folks are ol hippies. Real down to earth, though. Hippies breed pretty children, who make even prettier grandchildren. -lol-

It was always weird to me to be around "normal" parents, where you had to watch what you said and did..... not that I didn't have to follow rules, there just weren't too many!

For pic #1- I'm not a good photographer, but I really tried to take a good ppic on that one. Feel free to use it how you'd like, Kell. I'd be honored.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

To right .
Can you Email the Pic. to me please ,
So I don`t get DG water mark in the top left corner .
And full size would be good .
Then I will have a Play with it and show you the progress .

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Will I need a different email off DG?

and sending it full size -mmm- may have to get the BF to help me there-lol

I'm pretty computer dumb-it was easy to figure how to post pics on dg-everywhere else it is hard.

Gotta go-will try to send it to you later. If it needs to be regular email, dmail me your email -lol-so I can do that :)

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

Tropicanna, you dad looks like he was a rock star ! Love your first picture.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Ginger, I adore the one with the blue flowers - and really don't understand why anyone would've given you a bad time... I read all of the posts and everyone loved seeing your paintings.... you are right their loss. Thanks for sharing!! You really enjoy everything don't you?

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

If you like I will E-mail the Pic to you .

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

mm...jetty?

Was there something missing you wanted?-lol

Just FYI for everyone, I'll brag on my dad some more-I'm a daddy's girl, but he actually is a bass player, and has been in all kinds of bands over the years. Nothing famous, but he has played with some famous people. Used to be his favorite playing the blues, not sure what he's into playing at the moment.

Hi Susan ,
It sounds like you should have some takers for your treasures .
They do store for a year out of the soil if kept dry .
We hang them in net Onion bags here in Aus .
Rot caused from being wet is the enemy .
Good luck with your quest . Kell

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Hey Kell-what kind of tree is that in the first photo at the top of the thread?

What pretty monster leaves!

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

It`s a New Guinea Papaya .
That Pic . was an effects Pic .
Taken for light and shade .
Here is a day light Pic . of same tree .
I would normally clean up the tree B4 taking shots like this .
But I was in a hurry to take this for you .

Tropicanna

Quoting:
mm...jetty?
Was there something missing you wanted?-lol

We call them a jetty .
It is that wooden walk way structure that leads out into the water .
Are you with it now ? I can see it in your E-mail Pic .
I did some pencil sketches of it yesterday . Kell

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

Kell.. that is good to know.. I had some from a co-op and I think they were kept in a plastic bag and many were mushy .. ewww.. So.. I just thought it wouldn't be good to keep them out of the ground any longer than needed.. if any of you canna folks have any great guesses as to the cultivar, it may ring a bell and would be greatly appreciated. :)

Susan

Red ,
Here is a Pic . of the Happy Couple on the beach .

Oh, beautiful picture... how lovely to get married on the beach !

I've had to work inside this morning, but am heading out to put some annuals in the ground... yeah sun! uhh, and clouds, too)

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Kell-

MAN! That papaya is gorgeousAND with fruit!!! Yum! I gotcha on the jetty now. That little pier is sooo falling apart. I thought you saw the oysters and thought it was rocks-lol

Soulgardenlove-I wish I could ID that canna for you. I bet someone on the forum will if you asked for the ID on your giveaway page. It is very pretty. I would like some, but I can plant no more red or orange in my yard-we have enough road construction in this state to permanently terrify me from planting those colors. LOL

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

Wow - we were getting squashed, I needed to say hi and move the thread up. Anyone doing anything fun today? Just a minute ago there were the cutest little yellow finches drinking out of the water "container" - I'm charging my battery so I couldn't take a picture. They just came back to the area, so I'm sure I'll have a chance tomorrow.

Tonight we have a soccer game (5-6p) starring Olivia and a musical play (7p) "My Oregon Trail" starring Sophia. Fun night, and hopefully I'll learn something about Lewis & Clark. Hope everyone is doing great!

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

I thought this cute guy was trying to eat my Toms .
So I posted it on BugGuide and was told it was an assassin Bug .
They only eat other bugs , not my Toms .
I`m glad of that .
Hope your SG goes well Red .

Found this Pregnant one today .

Thumbnail by ginger749
Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

How do you tell if it's pregnant?

Imagination runs wild here...lol

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

It's storming here. Can't complain though, need the rain.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

Maybe it is just well fed? that is a good possibility too.

I am sooo happy , I finally have a water hose waaay up near the front of my back yard. Hottest and dryest part of the yard and never could get enough water with the sprinkler system to the cannas for them to grow well. Been carrying 3 gallon buckets of water up there.. no more of that. I just had sooo much fun watering them with the hose. I am soaking wet and loved every second of it... sort of like playing in the sprinklers, adult style.

Tammie
