The sickness continues...

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

I think I am going raiding next fall!! You guys are just getting too many bargains.

No digging and planting here as frost is down 2' and just a lt. covering of snow.

I will be watching for pictures to be posted of all these new LILIES.

Beware of DOG he wont bite he will let you
dig it up if i tell him I'm ready to move it and then
hold you down till you drop it

They were mixed, no labels except to identify as Asiatic or Oriental. I did get to specify which colors I wanted though, and she sent those. These bulbs were ones that she was selling at a farmer's market and I guess they were the leftovers (although it's hard to believe because of the size of them.) She said she didn't want to have to plant them again - I guess that's why I got so many!

I got them all planted today, practically burning out my drill in the process. I was planning to till up a new bed today but my tiller wouldn't start. I took it to a tool fix-it guy and ended up with his catalog for professional lawn care tools.
Inside was the biggest, most beautiful, gas-powered auger you can imagine.
You can get a 10" auger blade (bit, whatever you call it) for this baby. WANT.

Ivory, now I know what you mean by the size of small grapefruits! I just went to Buggycrazy's and picked up my 'First Lady' Asiatics....they're huge!!

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

I went to http://www.bloomingbulb.com/XQ/ASP/Category.6/QX/CartBulbs.htm and see a couple of colors I don't have yet, like the "Garnet Glow" and "Lavender Gem". I wish the darker colored Calla were available off of that site such as the dark reds and purples.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Those are awfully pretty!

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

Tazzy, does waving a white flag help?

Re: identifying the unmarked lilies from Buggycrazy -

I have planted so many others of hers in similar colors, and she has a very comprehensive album of her lilies online, so I'm figuring I will be able to identify pretty much whatever blooms in spring.

Maxine;

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

mgh,

I saw your calla seed pod on an earlier post. Your calla must have bloomed, since that's the seed pod from the flower! I just planted the ones I had, so we'll see what happens. Should be hardy in your zone.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Thanks Steve. Yeah, I figured that after I wrote that....I must have just missed the bloom. Can't have a seed pod without a flower!...duh! LOL!

Edited to say: The one I posted was from a yellow calla....I also got one off of my pink calla. I haven't planted them yet, but I will.

Calla Lilies hate me! I plant them & get little weak stems that fall over. I tried 3 times in 3 areas & gave up. Can't do it all...

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Oh, I don't think they hate you....just your zone! lol!

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

No. I know it's ME they hate! (Paranoid gardener?) Ha Ha

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

LOL!

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

Wanda they do hate you !
They told me they did ?
I don't know why ?

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

Tazzy, dear, now you know what the doctor said about talking to the flowers... he said it ok as long as they don't talk back... time for your meds, and a little nap maybe...

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

ok i just though all people talked to flowers and
animals and they answered back .
back to meds !

Signed

" STILL CRAZY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS ? "

and we are so glad!

I thought everyone talked to their critters, but ... well, maybe it is me... they don't talk to me... is it just me that they don't talk to?

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

I talk to my plants and my critters.... Do your plants talk to you? Mine just answer by growing more.

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

Mine talk back ((( Honest )))) some are kinda potty mouthed
LOL

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL.. Tazzy, you have mail...

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

If Tazzy's plants are potty -mouthed---we know who taught them how to talk that way!

I talk to all my flowers in bloom to help me remember names. That helps when Walker tears up the name stakes & I have to find the right clump again. I don't talk to Walker--I just yell at him alot.

Walker & Bill are going to Nebraska to hunt & tell lies with hunting buddies. It will be a nice weekend with both of them gone.

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

Wanda " seize the day "

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Well, if the snow was gone, I'd take the opportunity to kill some more grass. They never seem to notice the flower borders growing when they've been out galivanting around....

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

TNT if ground frozen ?

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Hmm. Do you think the neighbors would notice? All their windows and doors are shut & after last summer's "Naked lady" thing in the front yard, I notice they avert their faces alot when walking by....

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

loud thunder ?

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Not too much thunder right now with all this snow & ice. How about a short howling wind or ice clumps falling off roofs?

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

BRR

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

Wanda, does Walker ever talk to you?

'potty mouthed' ... NOT Senda? Tell me it aint so...

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

No just potted plants that get pot bound and then
some plants what to know what with all
the horse ____ i am covering them with ?

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

LOL... oh, geeez... you makin me laugh too hard... I guess I might get "potty" mouthed, too, if I was left root bound.. give 'em a break... ;)

(just so glad it wasn't Senda...)

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Walker doesn't "talk", but he whines alot. And he growls if you try to move him off your lap when he's sleeping. The little poophead is in Nepbraska with DH earning his keep this weekend. It gives me some pleasure to know they are hunting in deep snow and below zero temps. He'll be tired & behave well for a few days after he gets back.... Demon Dog aka Walker the Wonder Dog.

Those eyes do look a tad bit possessed ?

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Ooohhhh, he looks so sweet and innocent!!!

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Looks like Walker is saying, "You talking about ME?"

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

I told you--demon dog! his true nature is showing in the photo. He just hides behind tail-wagging & doggy stuff most of the time & does his destruction when I'm not looking....

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

Brenda, he does look like he is sayiing that...

Is he a deceiver, Wanda? He LOOKS so sweet and innocent...

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Turn your back & that innocent little face will steal garden stakes or tear a hole in a pillow! (He no longer tears holes in the couch after we used the shock collar on him.)
