This is Santa's last stop. He usually changes into shorts and tank top over the Pacific and can be seen surfing tomorrow morning. Surf up to 15 feet on the North Shore of Oahu.
Blue sky, light fluffy clouds and occasional light showers, trade winds from the ENE, climbing to 78f. Forecast to stay this way until Saturday.
27 currently. Still cold but I didn't need my bibs when out shopping. lol

My great grandson is learning to drive while the youngest grandson has to wait til New Years to to get his first drivers license official, the greatgrandson had a red Christmas- red pickup amd red wagon and is excited still. I'm not sure what all of the pollen is. I'm guessing pine tree.
I wonder which plants are causing that high pollen count?
The web site says alder and sagebrush, but I don't believe it. There are very few alder trees around here and I'm pretty sure sagebrush isn't blooming yet. I think it's pine tree. There are a lot of pine trees around here and they are early pollinators. The weather has probably got them started earlier than usual.

Do you have humidity in your house Kelli? We don't have a humidifier on our new furnace yet (but do have one humidifier going). My hands and feet get so dry in the winter so Santa gave me gel gloves and socks that I wear at night.
Humidity is high outside right now as we are at 32F but doesn't help inside the house here.
I have a small humidifier but I haven't been using it. I'm naturally oily enough that I don't dry out too bad, just some lotion for my hands.
Why is a snowy landscape a "winter wonderland"? Isn't it more a winter normal land?

They are calling for a high of 80F with some wind and a fire weather warning. Usually by this time of year we've had enough rain that we don't get fire warnings even if it is windy.

Drastic change in the weather coming tonight.
An intensifying Alberta clipper will track southeastward into North Dakota on Saturday. Snow will spread across much of Southern Saskatchewan this evening associated with this system. Generally 5 to 10 cm can be expected tonight into Saturday morning with snow tapering off from north to south late Saturday morning. The highest amounts will likely be along the Yellowhead Highway corridor. In addition to the snow strong northerly winds gusting to 50 to 60 km/h will develop late tonight into Saturday morning. The combination of these strong winds and falling snow will create poor visibilities in blowing snow especially over southwestern areas of the province where the winds will be the strongest. Visibilities of less than 1 km can be expected over open areas late tonight and Saturday morning in those areas. Conditions should improve Saturday afternoon as winds gradually subside and snow tapers off.
In the wake of this system, bitterly cold temperatures will prevail for the weekend through new year's evening...With some hint of a warm-up as 2014 begins. Extreme wind chill values of minus 40 to minus 45 are possible over Eastern Saskatchewan Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
