Lilies blooming this summer

Clifton Springs, Australia

All lovely Jean,
Are there many buds on the pretty orange one's plant?.

Merino, Australia

Just a single bloom this time , Dianne, But as I just passed , I noticed it has now totally reflexed its petals.
Cute little curly thing now.
There is another which looks similar but has more buds. These are from a mixed unnamed lot I got from Tassie.
Jean.

rosetta TASMANIA, Australia

Did you get them from Ray at Sparras or Neil At Camdale.,.,Reflexed i reckon they are Neils beautys,.,.I purchased some of his lesser available ones [$10 each],.., and they are in the waiting-about 10 ripe heads each,.,.everyone loves these, and Jean, hang on to them, because these babies get much bigger next year,.,.Anthony

Merino, Australia

Anthony, they are from Neil at Camdale.
There is another out this morning but I'll wait to take a pic until the petals reflex later.
I will certainly be holding onto these cuties.
Jean.

Clifton Springs, Australia

Here is the first one, Anthony.
Very white with deep yellow throat....
What I found interesting was that the stigma, before the petals opened wide, was bright blue.
The perfume on the 1st day is not overpowering...so all in all a nice flower.
I planted these on the 23/3/2010.....it's gone very quickly, hasn't it.

Hard to get the camera to show this color. Very pretty but not as purple looking as the photo.

Dianne, I do like the colored stigma. Very unusual.
Jean.

rosetta TASMANIA, Australia

Certainly some good blooms about,.,.Dianne, that bloom must make you feel happy..i have a few new seedlings to take a few shots of-best charge up the batteries!!!!

Clifton Springs, Australia

That second spotty one is lovely Jean.....beautiful colour....is that one of your bulk purchases?
My next one is almost open and it has anthers like your spotties, boat shaped....different to the white one.
Yes Anthony I am very pleased with it....can't wait for the others.
Here it is again, because it's my first.....it's a bit keen on painting everything with it's pollen, as you can see.

Really beautiful, Anthony.
Now that your lovelies are blooming we can all sit here and drool over them.
Love King Arther.
Jean

Clifton Springs, Australia

WoW, Anthony aren't they beauties...what about that Olina too.
I picked up this one this morning in Bunnings.....
It says Sensation.....but I don't know if it is really it's name.
But I like it.

I put this pic on because I'm starting to like anthers and stigmas, so after the rain this afternoon, I took a couple of pics...I like this one...all so perfect........................I must be going nuts...

Anthony, your King Arthur looks great. You should polinate it with a mix of your tango lilies. The seedlings will be exiting.

rosetta TASMANIA, Australia

Man alive, Dianne..That 'sensation' looks like a tortishell cat,unbelievable,.,.but if it receives as much love as tortishell cats do, around here, i know it will be looked after[remind me to tell you about a tortishell cat recently] some other time!!Grapus,i think you may be responsible for Diannes white /yellow cross,..,maybe 'Regale x',..,,,The 'King Arthur is a beauty, for sure,.,.that one is gone[sold], but another is not far away from bloom, so anything is possible..,,.Some of these 'Hudsons' seedlings look-very good, and i crossed a bit of 'Rubellum, ' with a few,,.even,Regale x Rubellum,..,everything is blooming about 3 weeks early, so i have to put a lot of faith into orientals for the show,.,.Who knows?

Clifton Springs, Australia

Anthony, what a good comparison....a torty.......Ever since Ray and I were married, we have always had a torty cat.....our first one we got from a garage, that we pulled into for petrol...Mitzi was her name and she lived for 14 yrs....then there was Tina, Emma and our latest Tinkabelle...
Don't forget your story......

There are other buds on Sensation.....could I cross it with a Tiger Lily? if not what type do you suggest and I'll see if I have one....Does Lilium pollen keep?..

Andebu, Norway

Anthony, do you know that cross of Diannes lily? I have not made any crosses with regale ever. But I know better if it's one from me if I know the parrents.

rosetta TASMANIA, Australia

Oystein, that would be from the 1st batch of seed you sent me---this computer is really playing up!!!!

Anthony thinks it might be this one, grapus....Diploid trumpet Aureliens.... Dr J Halinar.
What do you think?...the perfume isn't overpowering, just a typical Lilium sweetness.

Now this one below is a bit screwy....it's petals seemed stuck together and it couldn't open up properly..
but the perfume is lovely....more like a perfume with a citrus undertone....I would love to be able to bottle it.....it is more a butter colour...quite a nice colour....with a couple of faint splashes of rust.
Unfortunately the next bud looks like having the same problem ....

Here is a pic of the bud on the right....it's seems stuck at the tip and that forces it to open in the middle.
Do you think that it will right itself, next year Anthony...or is it a dud....the perfume is so nice and it's there all day and night.

[Cascade Bulb and Seed]Halinar -Short stemmed trumpet seeds i sent Dianne,[memory banks are slow].,.The bloom doesnt look all that bad, just a bit twisted, maybe too much heat''who knows''!grown from seed as it is, i dont suspect virus,.,.,.It will possibly right itself with time..,but it sounds brilliant[I have heaps of his purple seedlings here]

Vic, Australia

I had that last year with mero star I think was the name, it was separating in the middle and the tips weren’t opening with it, you can jiggle it out and it will open. Yes the lily buds will be ok next year, I think it sucked up too much water then wanted to open the bud, the petals ended up sticking. Nothing to do with virus or genetics. Mero star had flowered twice before with no problems. Just random oddities.

Love all the flower pics.

Heres an update of white pixels, all smaller flowers than last year.
All flowers are open and a few are starting to go over.

Buds about to open are regal lily, and royal sunset

Picked up this lilium a few days ago!
No name with it so would like it identified – it’s a bit rough and knocked around.

Aussie, how does the name 'Tropic Diamond' sound ,for that one?,..,No if's, no but's,Longiflorum /asiatic cross, with green, fading to white nectary furrows,.,.and it also has a light 'beautiful' scent,..,

Andebu, Norway

I don't think those seeds comes from me. The 1st batch of seed was just tango seeds. I know I have send Anthony trumpet seeds too but have forgot which crosses that was. But that cross you are mention, Seachanger, is totally unknown for me. But a really great lily.

Vic, Australia

Wow you are great at identification of lilies
I didn’t even notice that the very centre has a slight faded white to it, all I saw was huge bright pink flowers! It also has a nice strong main stem that is over 1cm thick, it’s defiantly the strongest lily I have this season, whoever grew it did a great job. I have slightly taller other lilies but they are on flimsy thin stems and needed to be stacked up.
And yes I went and sniffed it this morning and it has a great light pretty smell to it, very nice.

Clifton Springs, Australia

Thanks for the tip A_F........I like your White Pixels.

Grapus, thanks for the compliment....Anthony has had so many seeds, no wonder he doesn't remember, where they are from, until he looks it up...LOL.

rosetta TASMANIA, Australia

'So many seeds' Grapus-when i shut my eyes, all i see is seeds,..,.,,.,.and lilies and dont i love it

Sorry in my excitement i forgot to name this baby-Pink Brilliant

Dianne, that seed you grew into a flower, came from one of the most renowned breeders in America, and also a very decent man, in his latter years..He specialises in Tigrinum and pendant speciosum crosses,.- what grows for you now, i can guarentee you will never purchase again, as it has already been taken from his list,.,.so now you can position yourself up there in the'' meritable growers'' section !!!
