I had that last year with mero star I think was the name, it was separating in the middle and the tips weren’t opening with it, you can jiggle it out and it will open. Yes the lily buds will be ok next year, I think it sucked up too much water then wanted to open the bud, the petals ended up sticking. Nothing to do with virus or genetics. Mero star had flowered twice before with no problems. Just random oddities.
